The missing ingredient By Denniger Bolton I'm a vegetarian who has played with veganism off and on for years and it's the whole protein thing that keeps me from sticking with the program. I know rice and beans, which was confirmed to me my Candice Nielsen in her book, is a complete protein, including the nine essential amino acids which the body is not able to produce on its own. So, we do need to eat and we do need all nine. The author introduces a few other foods and combinations of foods like rice and beans that fulfill this complete protein. There's quinoa, buckwhean, humpseed, chia see, soy and quom. Good and important book giving us the missing ingredient. The recipe part of the book includes some great recipes like Peanut Tofu Wrap and Coconut Curry Lentil Soup as well as Sweet Potato & Black Bean Veggie Burgers.

Plant based proteins are healthier and compassionate than animal based, so I love plant based proteins. I have been following a whole food plant based diet with great results for multiple years. Recently I went to my local library and checked out bunch of vegan books based on multiple recommendations including here. I picked out books that have good overview and nice recipes for good meal plans. This book definitely has good recipes/overviews for a plant based lifestyle. Spicy and Tasty! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A new approach to vegan recipes By Belle J I have recipes on vegetarian dishes but this is one of the few times I've encountered totally vegan meals. It was great to know that with a little tweak of my favorite dishes, I can make it a vegan one. The recipes in this book are interesting. It has the old favorites converted to fit to a vegan lifestyle such as the wraps, smoothies and pancakes. Sometimes, it is difficult to determine if one dish doesn't really contain any animal based ingredient - but with this book, you are sure that you are following your vegan diet. A great book for a vegans that ran out of ideas of delicious meals.
