Christie Lately I've happily noted a focus on short and sweet workout programs that incorporate sufficient rest and recovery days, especially from a handful of trainers I respect and trust. Hour-long daily training is not only unnecessary for the average person wanting to get into amazing shape, but it can be detrimental to their goals and, potentially, to their health. So this book had me at "Quick & Easy." The title and subtitle aren't just marketing ploys, either. These workouts really can be done in 25 minutes (or less for beginners who may need to omit a few of the ladder sets according to the book's suggestions and guidelines). And that includes the warmups, which are brief but effective. Short workouts usually get us moving fairly quickly while still maintaining control of the movements, so these routines provide a metabolic component in addition to their strength benefits. Most of the exercises are relatively basic but still fun, and the program is thorough (pushes and pulls, squats and lunges). There are some good rotational moves, as well. I often forget how much I like woodchops until I get around to doing them again. I tend to prefer full-body workouts, but I recognize the value in upper-lower body split programs like the one in this book. The Denzels optimize this format by tailoring the warmups to the respective workouts, so you prep only the muscles you'll be working. This adds even more variety, which is certainly one of the benefits of split routines. One could also make this a full-body program by doing an upper and a lower body workout on the same day, although that would of course take away from the brevity factor. While the training chapter does provide some tips on how to schedule your workouts, a few more details, along with a sample weekly calendar or two, might help clarify this even further, particularly for new trainees who might not be familiar with optimal training patterns. Fortunately, the Denzels do address this, along with the importance of scheduling recovery days, a bit more in the FAQ. They authors are also accessible via Facebook and email, and are very responsive to questions.Overall, this is a solid program for anyone who wants to get stronger and feel great.

As a single guy without a lot of constraints on my time, I could spend an hour and a half in the gym, no problem. Then everything changed. I can no longer spend that kind of time working out and gave up. It was just too frustrating, going to the gym knowing that I could only get a fraction of a workout in.Like a lot of people, I made working out too complex. I bought into the idea that you need to incline presses, decline presses, hack squats, leg extensions, and a million other things to get a good workout. Then I got this book. Roland it a kettlebell instructor, so he knows how to make an efficient workout with simple equipment and he applies that knowledge in this book. He makes it very simple and short circuits all excuses with "okay, then do it this way" alternatives. The ladders are a little complex - but Denzel does a great job of explaining them. The Denzels make this workout simple. They provide printable logs, which are essential to a good workout program and a perfect reminder of what you are supposed to be doing. The exercises themselves are simple enough. There were a couple that I wasn't clear on, but that's why we have Google and YouTube.Any workout book that doesn't cover diet is lying to you. A significant portion of the 25 Minutes to Fit covers diet and gives you the resources you need to succeed. They have a book on diet, they mention it, but they don't push it.Simple. To the point. The real deal.

I liked several things about the book including: the list of some basic definitions, table of contents (more on this later), pictures of realistic people doing the exercises, charts that clarify the workout routines, the use of lower reps as a warm up, and the idea of rotating the four workouts and alternating the area of the body being exercised to allow back to back days of working out but giving that body part a day of rest. The only thing I would recommend would be to provide a more elaborate table of contents by dividing up the workouts so you can get to the workout you want that day without having to page through the other ones.I would recommend this book and will be trying these workouts myself.I was given a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review of its contents.
