However, the book is badly written and hard to read.I have followed a low-carb, mostly ketogenic diet for years and lost about 75 pounds in three years, without being hungry (and without trying, mostly). I have read on different websites about intermittent fasting, and thought I'd check this book out.I would recommend the ketogenic, low-carb lifestyle to anyone, especially people who have weight problems or chronic health problems. If you follow a keto lifestyle and are struggling to break through a plateau, or are trying to get those last few pesky pounds off, IF could definitely help you. But there are better, easier-to-read books out there on both subjects.If you are interested in the science behind such diets, you should read Gary Taubes' Why We Get Fat (and What to Do About It) and Maria Emmerich's Keto-Adapted. These both go deeply into the science of why low-carb (and keto) are a better way to eat than the heavily carb-laden Standard American Diet most of us consume.I got this book on sale and paid for it with credits from the no-rush shipping, so I didn't actually pay any real money for this book. I don't normally leave reviews on books I get for free, unless they really strike a chord with me. This is a subject near to my heart, though, and I think it's important for people who are looking for keto and IF information to look to reliable sources. He takes you through all the ins and outs of his particular strategy, as he calls it, of following a low carb, high fat diet on an intermittent fasting schedule. He is so laid-back about it all. Do what works for you. You can't live without wine? Have wine. Need chocolate? Have chocolate. Cristi is maintaining, so not everything he is doing is going to work for people who are actively trying to lose, but he gives you that to look forward to. He wants it to be easy and comfortable, but also tailored to your needs and abilities. He recommends some exercise videos, some nutrition books, some of his favorite podcasts, and gives tips on deciding which "experts" are worthy of following. He includes just about everything you need to get started with your new way of life, without sounding like an infomercial. Highly recommend!

This alone has changed my personal diet strategy. I urged everyone avoid the one size fit for all. Your success will come with your plan made just for you.
