About the Author I have dealt with depression and social anxiety for as long as I can remember, but I have learned to embrace it rather than run away from it. Throughout my journey, I have met many other people who have dealt with similar issues. Listening to what they go through has made a big difference to my life. This is why I started writing books - I wanted to share the experiences of those around me and my own. I hope I can show people that they're not alone. I've been told I write clearly and summarize well, so I plan on expanding my horizons and writing about many different common disorders or issues people have. And if you just want to know what it's like to suffer from a psychological issue, I think you'll find my books useful too.

To me it is a little too simplistic. Most of the antidotal stories are lacking authenticity, 'Person A, enters therapy, gets proper Meds...start to feel better.' The book does not do justice to the difficulties, symptoms and lack of outward appearance that make depression so indecipherable. I have a background in psychology as well as being a fellow sufferer of depression. The suggestions were spot on and I have suggested many of them to clients as well as used them for myself. I saw a lot of myself in the book, which made it that much clearer. Thank you so much for putting this info out there where everyone can access it. I received the book for free through Reading Deals, in exchange for an honest review.

By Ruben Betancourt The most difficult aspect of depression is explaining the disease to friends who knew you before you "got it" and just can't understand why you've changed, why the happy-go-lucky guy they used to know has changed into a kind of hermit. This book explains all of this with respect and love and understanding. Depression is the kind of disease that's tough for even the person having it to understand. This book makes understanding this crippling disease a lot easier and offers simple, non-judgmental advice on how to cope and what to do to feel better.I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review.
