About the Author Master martial artist Jesse Dean Crawfis has dedicated nearly his entire life to training in and teaching the martial arts. Born in Detroit, Michigan and raised 8 miles north of the city, Crawfis first began training in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 5. By the time he turned 16 years old he held Black Belts in the martial art styles of Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, and Okinawan Karate and became a dominate figure on the martial arts tournament circuit amassing numerous victories with his trademark vertical kicks combined with his incredible aerial kicking ability. Some of Crawfis’ more notable wins include The Pasadena Open, The Michigan Governor’s Cup, The Michigan Cup, and the 2004 Olympic National Qualifier. At the age of 18 Crawfis made martial arts history when he became the youngest published martial artist in history when his feature article “The Art of Kicking: Mastering the ABC’s of Tae Kwon Do” was published in Taekwondo Times Magazine. Since then Crawfis has continued to write feature articles for the world’s largest martial arts publications and peer reviewed journals including Black Belt Magazine, Inside Kung – Fu and Budo International Martial Arts of which his article “Five of TaeKwonDo’s Most Difficult Kicks” was published in 54 countries and translated into 8 different languages. In 2006 he was inducted into the Budo International Martial Arts Hall of Fame in New York City and received the coveted Outstanding Achievement in Martial Arts – TaeKwonDo award. That same year Crawfis began working with Emmy nominated director/producer Sam Logan Khaleghi on a variety of different projects and to this day is Khaleghi’s go to martial arts trainer/fight choreographer for his films, music videos, and television productions. In 2014 Crawfis was invited to part take in a martial arts documentary for the History Channel. Of all the opportunities that the martial arts has presented to Crawfis the one that he is truly most passionate about is teaching martial arts to others and passing the arts down to the next generation. Over the years Crawfis has logged thousands of hours teaching the martial arts to students of all ages, from young toddlers all the way to senior citizens. In addition to teaching at his martial arts school Crawfis regularly conducts seminars and other special events as well as contributes his talents to many non-profit organizations such as Kids Kicking Cancer.
