About the Author Co-edited by SerenaGaia Anderlini-D'Onofrio and Lindsay Hagamen. SerenaGaia is the sacred name of Serena Anderlini-D'Onofrio, PhD. SerenaGaia believes that "love is the ecology of life." Her prophetic books, including Gaia and Eros, have inspired readers around the world to open up to the glories of our amorous life on this beautiful blue dot the Greeks called "wide-bosomed Gaia." Artfully weaving together ecology and eroticism, SerenaGaia revives the vibrant, prehistoric connection between nurturing Gaia and mischievous Eros, envisioned as a primal force that "blows the breath of life into all beings." She is the author/editor of many books about Love, including Bisexuality and Queer Theory (2011), Plural Loves (2005), Women and Bisexuality (2003). A renown public speaker, SerenaGaia teaches Humanities and Cinema at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, and is working on exciting new books. She was a 2012-13 Fellow for "Amorous Visions" at U Conn's Humanities Institute. Lindsay Hagamen is creating a culture where we can live freely and love fully as we tend to our only home, this Earth. She is the President of the Windward Foundation, an intentional community dedicated to developing the knowledge needed to live well with one another and the Earth. Lindsay is the co-creator of the annual EcoSex Convergence, and offers workshops on ecosexuality, community, and land-based living. Lindsay studied Ecological Sciences at Brown University. Her interest is in exploring what lies at the heart of human connection - sexuality. She believes that "in order to live well with nature we need to live well with our own human nature." Healing and embracing our sexuality creates a foundation from which we can create whole-cloth solutions for an ecologically sustainable culture. At Windward, Lindsay focuses her energy on dry-land permaculture and holistic forest management, growing healthy food and forest products for her tribe.

Offering beautiful views of orgasm, touch, love, community, eros, ecology and consciousness, this collection energizes the ever-growing awareness that love is not a scarce resource, but rather an abundant energy that is ever renewable, ever sacred... an energy that, once we fully recognize it, can allow us to more fully emerge as human beings on a more humane planet."--Dr. Anya, author of Opening Love: Intentional Relationships & the Evolution of Consciousness

By Emily Boyer Full of insight, I want this book to be in my living space at all times - also maybe on a coffee table in my living room if I ever have another one of those! There's something so accessible and liberating about this piece of text that deeply expresses the nature of ecosexuality as a concept grounded in reality and broaching new territory in the realm of sexuality and sustainability. I would say that this is a particularly crucial read for anyone who would like to explore another framing of sexual identity that aligns with nature, rather than the sexual shaming that is so unfortunately prevalent in current mainstream society. If you're interested in developing as an individual on any level, and willing to acknowledge that sexuality is an inevitable component inherent to our lives on this planet, that should be plenty of justification for reading this book. It's enriching my life, that I can assure you.And for those still unsure they want to invest in this worthy compilation, here's a little preview for the unconvinced buyer that I believe shows how humble and important this work is: “For me, the practice of ecosexuality involves taking a principled stand that integrates sexuality and environmental concerns into a proactive whole... Sexuality is a powerful expression of the life force that flows within us, and, as an ecosexual, I strive to focus that power through the lens of the ecosystem that supports all life, including mine. This focus amplifies the impact of my actions, increases the resilience of my relationships and builds toward creating the critical mass of sustainable systems that is needed in order to drive meaningful change.” - Walt Patrick (from “Engaging Ecosexuality: A Communitarian’s Perspective”, which you can read a sneak peek of here: http://ecosexbook.com/excerpt-from-engaging-ecosexuality-a-communitarians-perspective/ )

If Mother doesn’t speak to you, how about imagining Father Earth instead? Or Earth as a lover? However you look at it, our very survival is dependent on earth being o.k. How about more than o.k.? More like thriving? It may not seem like it, but preserving our precious planet is linked to our sexuality! If you are even remotely intrigued by the emerging ecosexual movement, the epic book Ecosexuality: When Nature Inspires the Arts of Love is for you. Edited by SerenaGaia Anderlini-D’Onofrio and Lindsay Hagamen, Ecosexuality explores the link between sexuality and ecology from all angles via the voices of 30 cultural creatives and ecosexual leaders. This is a very special book. I am deeply moved by the depth and facets in which the love for ecology and its connection with our sexuality is depicted. Several of the poems and essays cover not just the thoughts of the writer, but their journey through the different stages of their lives. As I read their words, I could feel the authors’ hearts and even souls pouring into these pages, and as my heart began to beat with theirs, I was awakened and transformed. Truly remarkable. As a Singaporean Chinese, I found some of the references to be way over my head. Ecosexuality is not just from the heart, and the book offers a fair amount of intellectual discussions for which it can stand on its own as a literary read. More to the point, this book is so rich with historical and cultural references, that even if you get all of it, it is still a lot to absorb. As the saying goes, “Take what is useful and discard the rest.” Seek to understand, ignore what you don’t, and appreciate what you do. And as we begin to journey through life, we will begin to be able to appreciate the richness of this book–the appreciation of it being where we are at that given moment.Divided into four thematic sections, the book offers a compelling, diverse, integrated and exciting perspective. It is evident that a lot has gone into the making of Ecosexuality, and I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the shoes of the editors. This is an epic book, a classic, and one which everybody needs to get, and especially sexuality educators who truly want to understand how our sexuality is linked to ecology. My only regret is that I am not included in it. It does have many of the who’s who working in the field of positive sexuality including of course, my heroine Annie Sprinkle and her wife, Elizabeth Stephens. They contributed their Eco Sex Manifesto (which I love), and Vows for Marrying the Earth. I appreciate the list of biographies for each contributor, and the resource list at the end of the book. They alone are worth their weight in gold. I would highly recommend this book.
