This book seems to have been translated from some other language into English by a computer program. Quite awkwardly written, and not well organized. I have read much better information on several websites. I'm glad it was free.

By doreen I would really like to lose some weight but it is hard sometimes to look for a diet that suits you better. With the help of this book I have learned what ketogenic diet is all about. Before I am just hearing the word ketogenic and never did understand the process but this is very well explained in this book. The author did a great job in giving important information and benefits of ketogenic diet itself. I will definitely try this and I know I will have good results .Great read!

Example, amount of protein to eat .I assume 1.5_2.0 grams per kilo was referring to per kilo of body weight. In recipes some ingredients were low fat Mayo, and other low fat ingredients. My understanding was the fat was not the issue and low fat ingredients were to be avoided. Some explanation there would be helpful. The allowed food lists didn't include some of the ingredients in the recipes.

About the Author Charles Williams (1886-1945) was a writer who excelled in a number of different genres. He was a novelist, dramatist, theologian and literary critic. He belonged to The Inklings: C. 62 of 64 people found the following review helpful. Possible, believable picture of Evil By Elsie Wilson This probably qualifies as the strangest book i've read all year. I was reminded of Williams by reading C.S. Lewis's letters; i had read one of his books before, "Descent into Hell" i think, and remembered the strangeness, but this really is amazing. How many other books do you know in which one of the two main characters is dead, in which the dead and living can communicate almost as easily as we do every day, in which magic is serious and scary? Mainstream books, that is, not Goosebumps, with an introduction by T.S. Eliot, with the whole thing to be understood as at least feasible if not truth. This is unusual. And yet, and yet the whole thing works. It is the story of two dead women, killed during an air raid on war-torn London, and the choices they make ~ or the choices they made while alive ~ and how they affect the world of the still living. It is also the story of an evil (American) magus, Simon, who practises (actually, he's very good at it) real black magic. His desire to rule the world, and the plan he has to use his daughter to gain the power to do so, is in the end defeated by Lester, one of the dead women, her husband, his friend, and the friend's fiancée ~ Simon the Clerk's daughter. The evil is real, overbearing, even, though it is bizarre; one gets the idea that all the Clerk does is feasible, that Williams has experienced evil in his life, that he knows whereof he writes. The descriptions of the dead, of the City they inhabit (both London and not-London), are also real, persuasive; Williams must have had some foreknowledge, one feels, to write the way he wrote. Reading him takes quite an investment, of time, of thought, of disbelief suspension; it is, however, well worth the cost: The payoff is a gripping book, plenty of thought, and a clearer vision of life. I shall have to read another Williams, but perhaps not too soon.

Day While the premise of ghosts as major characters took a little bit to adjust to, I found that Williams developed supernatural characters and a supernatural world that seemed as solid and "real" as the natural world. It is a wonderful novel that explores so many deep concepts - heaven and hell, the reality of the supernatural, the nature of evil and its limitations, body and soul,... In fact, the main difficulty with the novel is the fact that it explores so many deep questions, and dwells so much on the inner thoughts of the characters. These aspects make the novel a difficult (yet rewarding) read. I found that I needed several hours of completely uninterrupted time to really get into the novel. Then, I couldn't put it down.

21 of 23 people found the following review helpful. Williams at his incredible best By NRW Whatever your ideas of heaven and hell, they will never be the same after reading Charles Williams. Whether the new images will be comfortable or not is another question. In some ways Williams's picture of heaven is, if anything, more frightening than the conventional depiction of hell. It's certainly considerably more compelling. His dead protagonist was one scared woman--and so was I, for most of the novel. In "All Hallows' Eve" Williams gives his eschatological images expression in their leanest, purest form, mingled with other terrific and similarly life-threatening images of the war that was then engulfing the world. Read it!

Paul Cézanne (1839–1906) was one of the most influential artists of his day, producing work derived from “the most acute sensibility at grips with the most searching rationality” according to his friend, the writer Joachim Gasquet. Honoring tradition while also challenging it, his example made possible the advances of numerous younger artists such as Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Georges Braque, thereby paving the way for the emergence of modern art.   Cézanne’s novel approach was evident as much in his drawings and watercolors as in his oil paintings. About the Author

EMMA FITZGERALD was born in Lesotho, a small mountainous kingdom in Southern Africa. Her early travels have given her a large appetite for adventure. Combining her interest in people and places, Emma followed a career path that was part architecture, part art. She received her BFA in Visual Art at the University of British Columbia, spending her third year at L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where she honed her drawing skills. She then completed her undergraduate and master's degrees in Architecture at Dalhousie University in Halifax. She has worked in architecture offices in Johannesburg, South Africa, and across Canada.

While working in Gambia, Emma took students onto the streets of their own communities, using sketching as their primary learning tool. When she returned to Halifax, drawing became an act of connecting with the many stories and unofficial histories of the area, a custom during her travels, but never before in Halifax. This laid the groundwork for her new book.

That's where the author and artist Emma Fitzgerald now lives.Hand Drawn Halifax is a charming sketchbook that captures the sights and scenes, buildings and everyday life of the city. The sketches are lively, loose and childlike in a way that they actually reminded me of Quentin Blake's style. These are sketches drawn on location with the colours added digitally later on.Each place or building featured is accompanied by a short history or the author's interaction with people she meets while drawing. She talks about the architecture, such as the Halifax Central Library that's designed to look like a stack of books, discovers a church that houses a concert at night, or talks about people dressing for prom, pitching a tent they bought online and other things she sees on the streets.Showing the places through sketches and observations has a nice personal touch. I enjoy reading and finding out about the neighbourhood and people.It's a lovely sketchbook. 128 pages, hardcover.(See more pictures of the book on my blog. As they say, upfront, the secret to losing weight is no secret nor indeed is it brain science, in short, if you eat less and move more, you will lose weight. In almost a hyper jovial style this guide tackles the issues that make us want to overeat in the first place, the so-called emotional triggers that send us searching into the fridge for the cookie dough-flavored ice cream. Even though anyone could definitely benefit from this guide it is geared towards baby boomers and makes numerous references that such boomers would readily recognize (I especially liked their various song lists as recommended listening for motivational purposes and to stay in a positive mood). Baby boomer or not, spending time with this brother and sister writing team could very well put a smile on your face. Now to play some of that music...

Zoro Baby Boomer or not, everyone needs some motivation to lose weight and I found this book to be the antidote to my own lack of enthusiasm for the mammoth task.There are so many weight loss books out there, but this book is a funny read tackling a serious issue. It is written by authors who have gone through the frustrating cycles of weight loss and gain and understand what they are talking about. It makes the message even stronger.The guide points out the solution to the problem is addressing the causes of weight gain and not the result. So what should be attacked is not the weight itself, but the pushing factors behind. It is about controlling the ups and downs of weight and accepting they happen, changing lifetime eating habits and sticking to your plan. Thus weight loss becomes a long term process, a repetitive lifestyle and commitment. Dieting does work and weight can be lost, but it takes one to own their size, so to speak, and turn it to what they want it to be. With this book as a guide it can only be fun all the way.

I never expected such detail, allure and courage from a first time author. I was literally TALKING OUT LOUD READING THIS ON A PLANE! Initially, I thought the chapters were kinda short, however, I now know that was BY DESIGN. You get pulled in as the book reaches it's climax. It was so descriptive, it was almost like watching a movie as the scenes play out in your mind. Honestly, it's one of the most memorable books I've ever read because of the RISK taken by the author. You think to yourself.....I KNOW THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN, I KNOOOOW THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN. OH WOW, IT HAPPENED. The writer was extremely BOLD AND DARING as she tied it all together.I loved this book and I appreciated the authors lead in and build up. The character development was amazing! I felt like I personally knew these women. This book has everything that I look for in a good read. I was so impressed and proud. I only have one complaint....that I didn't wait until the follow up came out to read it. I'm anxious to see where the author can go since she took us there in this novel. I finished the book in 2 days and my friend did the same. IT'S DEFINITELY one of those books that's impossible to put down. I call that money well spent!!! I might even read it again. (lol)BUY THE BOOK! AND BUY ONE FOR A FRIEND SO THEY DON'T TAKE YOURS. The potential for this author to have longevity as a writer is high. I'm anxious to continue to series. LOVED IT!!

A definite page turner indeed, and I completed it in less than one day! This book will make you yell, curse, cry, and sometimes wanna snatch up the characters by the collar. LOL. This book also shows the strengths and weaknesses of the characters' personalities, their friendships, and even their relationships. It also shows the growth in the characters as well. I had a love/hate relationship with some of the characters in this book. I loved several of the characters for their different goals in life and their ways of achieving those goals, but I hated several of the characters due to their selfish, and petty ways. Excellent book all around.Anxiously waiting for Part 2.

These three successful women who can hold their own and couldn't be more different in nature. The fact they were different made for some great reading as we read about them clashing on many levels.Summer owns Heaven, the hottest beauty salon in NYC. She is married to David. They had a daughter named Heaven that died of SIDS hence the name of the shop. Since then Summer has been obsessed with having another baby and it's putting a strain on her marriage. David just wants to adopt and stop the madness.Constance aka Connie works as a hair stylist under Summer is mother to Meagan and in love with a married man. Reggie is the apple of her eye everything she does is to please this man. Even her daughter comes second fiddle. Will she come to her senses and realize this man is never going to leave his wife?Renee is the man eater of the bunch and has a confidence that most woman can't stand. She is a diva and never caught with a hair out of place. She is engaged to be married to Sean aka Frog. They make the perfect couple. Will she be able to be loyal to one?While I enjoyed reading about these ladies, their lives and most off all their friendship. I enjoyed the story but at times had to reread parts to make sense of what the author was trying to convey. Who was talking was not always clear. The need to have bold print in a conversation was just plain annoying, there was no need for it. With Content editing to make the points come across clear and constant would be a plus. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. It's okay, but it's missing a lot By Obi Wan I got this book as a gift and while I kind of like it, it could use improvement.The pictures are great. But some of the facts about the ballparks are incorrect or misleading. For example, when discussing Baltimore's Memorial Stadium (predecessor to Oriole Park at Camden Yards) the fact sheet indicates the stadium opened in 1922 as Baltimore Stadium. That's kind of accurate, but not quite right. A different stadium opened in 1922 on the same site as Memorial Stadium. The original was completely removed to make way for Memorial Stadium, but this book describes the change as a simple 'renovation'. In reality nothing of the original stadium remained. And the original stadium on that site was known briefly as Baltimore Stadium but the longest running and most common name for the stadium was Municipal Stadium. There's no mention of the Municipal Stadium name at all.The Baltimore Stadium history is the only city that I have intimate knowledge of the facts of the stadium history on. So that's the only section that I can read and see obvious errors and omissions. But I have to assume there are other discrepancies like this scattered throughout the book as it seems unlikely that my particular area of knowledge coincides with the only mistakes in the entire book.The other issue I took with this book is the disparity between different cities. For Baltimore, Boston, and New York for example, there are multiple page spreads showing numerous photos of stadiums from those cities in various states of age and renovation. But for other cities like Anaheim and Oakland there are just 2 pages that barely highlight the history of those parks.And as far as ballparks go, Anaheim has one of the more interesting developmental histories as it's been massively renovated multiple times. It was built as an open outfield design, later closed in so the seating bowl went all the way around the field, then the outfield stands were later demolished to open the stadium back up again as part of a huge renovation that totally transformed the look of the park. But there are no photos or mention of any of those changes. That seems odd for a book titles Then and Now, indicating it's showing old pictures in contract with modern photos.Ultimately the photos that are in the book are really cool. She is 10 years old and loves nature, animals, being outside and drawing! This seemed Like a perfect match. When I received the book I peeked inside and saw a few things that really did not apply to her. This book, I believe is made for an adult, not a kid. I did however, give it to her because it is cute, and surely she will enjoy using it. I haven't seen her actually take it outside yet, but I imagine when the weather gets warmer she will overlook the adultish things and learn a thing or two and have fun with it. It really is cute! I would recommend it to a college aged person or young adult who enjoys hiking and camping. Would be a great book to take while hiking the AT.

By Elizabeth Doodling for Tree Huggers and Nature Lovers is a great book for a family to take on a camping trip or a day of hiking. It reinforces nature and fun while also encouraging creativity to draw a snake or a tent or inventive butterfly species. There’s a learning component, too, with terminology and how to learn the differences between similar animals. The illustrations are fun and cute and don’t take themselves too seriously, which helps if your drawing skills aren’t the best. This book is a great gift for your outsoorsy friends, too. Instead of getting them a foufy water bottle or something else they probably already have, this is a unique way to support their interests with something new and fun. The author is clearly an animal lover and many different kinds are showcased here. I received the entire series of six books as a gift and I love them! They are all very well-made with a high-quality cover that blurs paperback and hardcover.

While I'm not an artist, I enjoyed doodling with the directed activities. Enjoyed the facts and reading about some of the activities. Will have to try out some of the suggested hikes around the world if I'm ever nearby. Would be great to take camping or as a present for someone going. Really enjoyed. Received copy from publisher with hopes of an honest, unbiased review.

Canady "Only A Look" is brief history of one of Traditional Gospel's innovators of song and style the Great Roberta Martin Singers.... I enjoyed the complete song lists that you can find FREE on youtube if you want to hear superb Gospel Music with a mixture of classical, jazz, Blues and heavenly felt emotions in their interpretations. I also enjoyed the photos of many of the great Gospel singers such as the youthful Willie Mae Ford Smith from "Say Amen, Somebody" and Robert Anderson, Willie Webb..... All of these singers contributed to a sound that is from the Heart and from Chicago,Ill.What I liked to see more of was pictures and possibly more photage if someone hear's me of Mahalia Jacskon and Roberta Martin Together on stage as well as in pictures.... I know there are many pictures of Mahalia but it would have come full circle for me and to get another piece of this fine musical history of Black religious church life....

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Enjoyed this book very much! By April H. Mr. Greer did an excellent job from start to finish and no little amount of research went into this book! It's full of wonderful pictures of Ms. Martin as well as a great deal of facts that required many hours of research! I look forward to reading his next book should he decide to write another!

By A Customer Ronald Greer has out done himself in this biological and professional account of Roberta Martin and the Martin Singers. This is a must read for music lovers, gospel music lovers, black history buffs, choir directors, and gospel keyboard musicians.
