This little book explains how everything works. If you are a seasoned photographer this book isn't for you. However, if you are a newbie & want to understand the basics this is the perfect little book. Simple & too the point with a glossary of camera terms.

About the Author AESCHYLUS (525 BCE - 456 BCE) was the earliest of the three great tragic playwrights of ancient Greece whose work has survived to the twenty-first century. He fought bravely in the Battle of Salamis (480 BCE), which inspired his first surviving play, The Persians. According to legend, he died in Sicily when an eagle dropped a tortoise on his head.

From AudioFile Although these Greek plays are 25 centuries old, this production is, remarkably, the first audio release to include the complete trilogy. The strongest play is the final one, THE EUMENIDES, during which Orestes is tried before Athena for the murder of his mother, Clytemnestra. It features a fine performance by Robertson Dean as Apollo, Orestes's advocate. After listening to the trilogy, it's easy to appreciate the challenges of adapting Greek dramatic conventions to audio. For example, lengthy passages are delivered by a chorus, which may seem contrived to modern listeners. Unfortunately, this production magnifies that awkwardness--far too many lines are delivered with injudicious sound effects and multiple voices that are more cloying than dramatic. Faith Imagine yourself a member of an audience sitting in a Greek amphitheater over 2,000 years ago, caught up in the ebb and flow of a tragic drama unfolding before you, hanging on every word proclaimed by the larger-than-life masked actors who move across the stage--now lamenting in unison, now pitted against one another in angry confrontation--and you will get a sense of what it's like to listen to this 2007 full-cast audio production of Aeschylus's tragic trilogy, The Oresteia. It is an event. An event that draws you in and holds you focused on murder and mayhem and their come-uppance. An event that marches inexorably toward a restoration of the balance in the universe.This adaptation by Yuri Rasovsky (and under his expert direction) captures not only the characters, the story line, and the tone of this tragic sequence but also its quintessential sense of time and place. No bad deed goes unpunished--especially when it involves killing one's own family. The performances are clear and straightforward, and Rasovsky's orchestration of them brings out the themes that weave their way through all three plays of the trilogy. Never intrusive, the device of using electronic distortion to enhance several of the voices serves, among other things, to distinguish gods from mortals, and is well within the spirit of the larger-than-life masks with built-in megaphones used in Greek theater.This Hollywood Theater of the Ear production is a thoughtful and thought-provoking, as well as enjoyable, rendition of the plays.

Some may question the choice of certain actors or the choice of using distortion, most likely electronic, to enhance certain characters, but the plays do work.The final act, The Eumenides, comes off particularly well. At the very end the chorus is sung to a marvelous melody that comes quite by surprise, providing an amazing lift to the play.

I gave up at the second disk.The chorus sounds like some bad sci fi experiment.Clytemnestra sounds like she's auditioning for a Desperate Housewives episode.Agamemnon sounds like he's a game show announcer.Los Angeles has thousands of really talented actors. Some from this cast may be fine in other roles but here most of the cast is miscast. Want to watch a really good cast? Watch Iphigenia with Irene Papas as Clytemnestra and Kostas Kazakos as Agamemenon: great performances! Brings tears to my eyes every time. There you get two regents, parents battling for their family and country and agonizing over the choices. It's life and death and they play it all. Here, the emotional level is on par with a sweater choice. The Trojan Women has some great performances, Irene Papas, Katherine Hepburn.I have seen marvelous Greek productions done in Greece in Greek at Epidaurus. The Brits can do a fine job. I saw Diane Rigg do an admirable job in Medea on Broadway. Zoe Caldwell is legendary as Medea. These plays can be thrilling and riveting. Yet, why is there so damn few on CD or DVD? Is it really that much more money to video or bring the cast in to do a CD?Please, someone take another go. The Getty Center in Malibu is bursting with money. They produce Greek drama. How about filming their productions?

This is one of the most helpful books I've ever read for anyone with relationship, or family, drama that they would like to improve. As a therapist and life-coach, I prescribe it to all of the couples I work with as clients, simply because it works. The clear and articulate analysis of how and why we create drama in our lives, and how to avoid those problematic patterns, and change our selves and our relationships for the better is extremely useful, accessible and effective. The personal stories and funny, engaging writing style make this book fun and interesting to read as well, and they really help you apply the lessons to your own life experiences. I consider this book as required reading for anyone involved in any kind of relationship with another human being, which is why I keep buying copies and sending them to people. And, even if you aren't having any trouble in your relationship, this book lays an extremely healthy and positive foundation to build upon; my fiance and I, for example, read it together and have been using its strategies to take our wonderful relationship to the next level.

By Amazon Customer As a busy mum of two young boys I don't have much spare time to read, but I could not put Jennifer's book down! it made me laugh as her sense of hummer shines on through an inteligently written book that is not heavy nor confusing, her transparency and honasty makes you connected, It is so punchy with information that will immediately have you viewing your self as you really are, she has shared some fun and inventive tools to implement change, to break out of your drama, what ever that may be... For my self (even though I first thought I didn't have drama) instead of being an angry mummy when everything is not going to plan, I now dance around the house which encourages a different emotional state, which has had such a incredibly positive response in my day to day life with my children! Not getting stuck in the drama and flying of the handle, just when you thought you couldn't teach an old dog new tricks!This is a must read for all walks of life, you will simply understand your self and see how you function, you are given the knowladge and tools to change the way you interact with life, opening the doors to consciousness .

Spiritual seekers look no further By Steve Safigan If you're a spiritual seeker looking to help evolve the human race but feel held back because you're stuck in interpersonal drama, then this is the PERFECT book for you.Personally, I don't consider myself a spiritual seeker trying to evolve humanity on this planet. I also think taking on changing the world is a bit ambitious when I'm stuck in my own personal drama.But I found that if I simply let go of what I didn't find valuable to me personally there's still plenty in this book to highly recommend it. Collins comes from a deep knowledge that only someone who's "been there, done that" can convey. And she communicates in a breezy, quirky, genuine style, using plenty of personal anecdotes. She really knows her stuff, and she knows how to tell you how to rise above your own drama. To me, that's well worth the time and money to read this book.

However, I did start to read it when I went on my latest vacation to Central America. When I started reading the book, I was a little turned off because I thought it was filled with a lot of common sense. However, as I continued to read and continued to travel, the book really started to resonate with me. It's a great read for someone traveling somewhere a bit off the beaten path or a bit outside of your comfort zone, and reminds you to be observant throughout your travels and really appreciate traveling to new places and meeting new people.

Dixon Jr. Witbold Rybczynski is as good a writer as his name is difficult to spell. I have read everything of his I can get my hands on and appreciate his clear articulation of the dynamics of architecture, culture and society in our age. I give this book only four of five stars due to the fact that many of these essays are rather obscure; there also seems to be no rhyme or reason to the collections: just a bunch of his short works thrown together. Still, it is thrilling to read of his opinions anytime; I only wish that the editors had seen fit to include illustrations of the various buildings and structures that Rybczyinski discusses. I found myself constantly sent to Google Images to figure out just what it was he was talking about.This is not a good book to introduce the reader to Rybczynski's ideas, as it is far too disparate. I would suggest his earlier works, especially, The Perfect House. Still, it is a pleasure to read an author who really understands what's going on and can explain things so clearly to us laymen.

Laugh Your Way to Enlightenment looks at laughter from all angles. Before reading this book, I had no idea that laughter is "frowned upon" in some common situations. I knew that there were benefits of laughter beyond the obvious, but to use it at therapy, WOW! Very usable techniques, too. Laugh Your Way to Enlightenment is an enjoyable read and a practical resource for discovering fun healing methods through laughter.

Laughter is a wonderful thing, fun and healthy to boot! The chapter on Joy vs Happiness was especially meaningful. As I was finishing the book I laughed out loud as I pictured her laughing over the bridges of Eastern Virginia.

The reason is that Justin goes nice and slowly through the examples. You can flip from page to page and see all of the smallest of changes made. This makes it super simple to copy what he is doing.Another thing I love with this book is that he shows how to do the different perspectives from multiple angles. In many books they show just looking down a railway track, but this one goes from above, below and level and at different sides. Really amazing book and you must check this one out!

I find this book useful for all, not only for beginners. She has taken some drawing samples for her project. Simple and clear instruction plus illustrations make this book valuable on learning and mastering drawing in perspective.

A way to have clearer dreams By Denniger Bolton The question Tabitha Zalot, the author asks, is How to you get to dream and to control your awareness and your actions in a dream? Having a lucid dream is being aware that you are indeed dreaming and once you know you are dreaming you are in this lucid state. I’ve wanted to do this since I can remember but rarely have I been able to pull it off. This book actually tells me how to do this. There is a chapter called How Can You Have Lucid Dreams? You will have to read the book to get this info, but it’s there. Why have lucid dreams? There are lots of reasons. Lucid dreams are clearer. Creativity Transcendence. Fantasy Fulfilment. Visualizing success. Adventure. Healing. To name a few. I liked this book a lot and will refer back to it as I learn to dream lucidly. I’ve already begun working on the first step which is to remember my dreams by writing them down as soon as I wake up.

About the Author John King is the San Francisco Chronicle's urban design critic. He joined the paper in 1992 and has been in his current post since 2001. His writing on architecture and urban design has been honored by groups including the California Preservation Foundation, the Society of Professional Journalists, and the California chapters of the American Institute of Architects and the American Planning Association. He was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism in 2002 and 2003.

This monograph—published to coincide with the Bauhaus exhibition at the MoMA (November 8, 2009-January 25, 2010)—celebrates the work of twenty women artists who created feverishly in all the teaching, workshop, and production branches of the Bauhaus—women who should have been included in the major art histories of the twentieth century long ago, but whose names, masterpieces, and extraordinary lives have only gradually become known to us. Recognized figures such as Anni Albers—the first textile artist to be exhibited at the MoMA—and Marianne Brandt—whose elegant geometric tableware have become classic Alessi designs—are showcased alongside previously unknown artists such as Gertrud Grunow, who taught "Harmonizing Science"; Helene Börner, who led the textile workshop; and Ilse Fehling, a sculptor and the most sought-after set and costume designer of her generation. Founded in 1919, the Bauhaus and most of its students were poor and lacking in just about everything. What it did have, however, was an abundance of enthusiasm, talent, and innovative creativity. Furthermore, over half of those seeking to enroll at the school were women. This tornado of the "fairer sex" was initially seen as a threat, and the weaving mill was quickly turned into a separate "women’s facility." Nevertheless, over the years the mill became a hotbed of groundbreaking production, whose impact far surpassed national borders, as demonstrated by the international acclaim of photographers Lucia Moholy, Florence Henri, and Grete Stern.

The Fairer side of the Bauhaus By Peter Isaacson Most of the other books on the Bauhaus just mention the women in passing as being mainly in the fabric/weaving and pottery departments.This book seeks to redress this absence.The book is divided into sections concentrating on the various departments within the Bauhaus where the women studied, worked and also taught.Each section is further sub-divided into stand alone biographies of individual women. The bios are not bite-sized, nor are they overly detailed.But, rather nice serving-sized portions; not too long nor too short.....just right.I wouldn't recommend this book to someone just starting out wanting to read about the Bauhaus.....this book is definitely geared to fill in the knowledge gaps.I would suggest this as reading for someone who has already read a few other books on the subject, and is familiar with the prior history and personages of the Bauhaus school, because this book doesn't really address this aspect.This book concentrates upon the women, and their various influences and contributions to the Bauhaus School

By Poetry Lover If you are a lover of modern art and haven't learned enough about the women -- who should have been included in many of the other Bauhaus movement book, this is a great place to start. It is beautifully written and informative -- and it really shows the ingenuity of women, who were doing their work somewhere in the background of the men we have already come to know.
