About the Author Robin Westen received an Emmy Award for the ABC health show FYI. She is currently the medical director for Thirdage.com, the largest health site for baby boomers on the Web. She is the author of the Harvard Medical School Guide Getting Your Child to Eat (Almost) Anything; Ten Days to Detox; and the coauthor of V Is for Vagina. She’s written feature articles for dozens of national magazines including Glamour, Vegetarian Times, Psychology Today, SELF, Cosmopolitan, and others. Good info, bad editing By Amazon Customer While I agree with other reviewers that the book is informative and situates consuming bone broth within a broader detox regimen, the book is badly in need of a competent editor. For example, the recipe for chicken broth (p. 84) omits a key ingredient: water! It doesn't say how much water to use. Earlier, on p. 81, Ms. Westen provides a helpful shopping list which lists "2 chicken (optional—for extra gelatin)". She meant to say "chicken feet." There are other errors of this sort in the text that mar an otherwise fine book.

By Amazon Customer What I enjoyed the most about "Heal Your Gut with Bone Broth" was the engaging and relatable writing style. Cleanses often turn me off if I'm honest. It seems like too much, too fast, and I get worried about giving up too soon and having it all be lost. Juice cleanses often seem gimmicky to me--a ploy for weight loss but no real personal benefit. HOWEVER, this bone broth may turn the tide for me and cleanses. Westen's understanding of the fallacies of human nature and her down to earth outlook really made me feel that I had a friend on the other side of this book who was supporting me and cheering me on. I also found that the research and historical and contextual support for WHY bone broth is beneficial (and HAS BEEN so beneficial in the past) made me feel very safe in starting this. Why wait til 2016 to better your health? I started two days ago and am honestly LOVING IT.

By Elizabeth Elle This book is really informative and filled with plenty of health tips to improve your gut. I really enjoyed reading this book and learning more about bone broth and my gut! The book begins with introductory information about the health benefits of broth and bones both. I learned so much about the benefits of bones! Did you know that the gelatin in bones helps prevent cellulite? The book is also upfront about the downsides, which I appreciate! The book continues on with helping you figure out if you need to detox, beginning to plan for your change in diet, the basics of broth, and more. One great aspect of the book is that it takes you day-by-day through the detox. I loved this. It helped me feel confident in knowing what to expect, and how to plan for each day. My very favorite part about this book is that after each chapter, there is a relevant quiz. It helped me ensure I was really understanding what I was reading, and helped me know I was ready to move on to the next chapter! The book also has natural solutions to some common house problems- my favorites were the ones for taming kitchen odors, sticker removal, and the face masks. This book made me feel so positive and optimistic- how often can you say that about a book about bones?! I loved it.
